Snow

It's been snowing since early yesterday morning. Non-stop. Now it is nearly night. The light is turning coral grey. The snow is more than knee high.

Yesterday, as I drove through translucent white, and past dirty cars, I spoke to someone in New York. On a Nokia 6680, from somewhere south-west of Milan.

Snow is so white. Drowns out all colour and makes things so bright.

Today I worked from home. Drinking miso soup in Padania. My connection is dial-up 56K in the heartland of economic Italy. I sat in on a international conf. call on a red kitchen chair, taking notes with a pencil. Earlier I shovelled snow in the common courtyard with my neighbours. Can climate change change the way we acclimatise to culture?

What will freeze and thaw away?

Outside everything is increasingly hidden. In transformation.
